It supports English, Spanish, French, German, Cantonese, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. It is compatible only to the devices having Apple intelligence feature e.g. iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or any iPhone 16 model. But with the release of iOS 18.1 beta 4, this feature is now available on other iPhone devices too. 

Here’s How To Record And Transcribe Calls on iOS 18

Make or answer the phone call. 

Tap the record button appearing on the call screen in the form of a wave icon on the top-left corner.

Hitting the button will immediately notify the call participants. 

The recording will automatically save into the Notes app the moment the call ends or in case you stop the recording. 

How To Manage Phone Call Recordings

The recordings will appear in the Notes app in the form of audio files. Every audio file will have the transcript. Here you’ll find multiple options too. They include reading the transcript, having the AI-generated summary of the call and to delete or share the recordings. 

Is it legal to record and transcribe calls?

It is really fun to record calls and transcriptions, but one must be aware of legal obligations. Apple ensures transparency through automated call recording notifications, but one must also be aware of local recording laws. It is advised that before recording a call, check your state laws.
